Aaron Rousseau

Aaron began his legal career practicing employment law with a large national firm before joining Rubin Thomlinson in 2011.
As a valued member of the Rubin Thomlinson team, Aaron provides counsel to employers and employees on all areas of employment law, including employment contracts, terminations, constructive dismissal, accommodation of disabilities, workplace safety, employment standards, and human rights. Aaron has appeared at all levels of courts in Ontario, conducting trials, motions, and appeals. He has also appeared before many administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board. A number of Aaron’s cases have been reported in Canadian Cases on Employment Law and elsewhere.
Aaron has written and published numerous articles, including “Overtime and the Salaried Employee: A Disaster Waiting to Happen”, a topic on which he also frequently presents.
He holds a B.A. Honours (Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies) from the University of Toronto, graduating with distinction having focused on group-identity conflict. He earned his law degree at the University of Toronto in 2006, earning numerous awards, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2007.
In 2002, while an undergraduate student, Aaron won the North American Parliamentary Debating Championships. Aaron continues to participate in debating competitions as an adjudicator and volunteers his time teaching public speaking skills to secondary school students.
