An RT “Train the Trainer” Program:
Mandatory Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (“AODA”) Training Required by January 1, 2015
Section 7 of the Integrated Accessibility Standards requires all Ontario employers subject to the AODA to provide training to all their employees on the requirements in the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. This is in addition to the training requirement previously found in the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service. The deadline for compliance for organizations with over 50 employees was January 1, 2015.
To help your organization meet these requirements, Rubin Thomlinson has designed a comprehensive half-day training program to provide you with an overview of this legislative requirement, and to assist you in developing a basic AODA training program that you can implement in your workplace.
Presented by Cory Boyd, this interactive program will explain the training requirements, and will feature discussion of the key elements that must be covered in your organization’s training program, including:
• The requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards;
• Understanding the Ontario Human Rights Code;
• The definition of disability in the Code;
• What is required to meet the Duty to Accommodate; and
• How is the Code enforced.
