Fiona McFarlane heads our Vancouver practice. At Rubin Thomlinson, Fiona conducts workplace investigations into allegations of harassment and workplace violence, code of conduct violations, bullying, poisoned work environments, privacy breaches and other problematic workplace behaviour. Fiona is also available to assist her clients understand their internal issues better through workplace assessments and reviews. Fiona also provides workplace investigation and human rights training to staff at all levels.
With over ten years of experience providing legal services on a variety of cases involving human rights, Indigenous rights and title, contract law and estates, Fiona has appeared in numerous courts and tribunals including the Federal Court of Canada, the BC Supreme Court, the Pension Appeals Board, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and more. She also witnessed the telling of over 200 Indian residential school survivor experiences and is sensitive to the need for reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
Giving back is important to Fiona. She is a long-time volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada and recently took on the role of Risk and Compliance Advisor in BC where she is involved in governance issues whose mandate is to advise Council and staff on enhancing access and inclusion for women and girls to fully participate in City services and civic life.
