An employee tells you that a co-worker said something that made them upset, but also fear for their personal safety. You’re well-versed in dealing with complaints about harassment and bullying. What about complaints that raise a risk of someone getting injured?
This course will teach you how to recognize those complaints, and investigate them.
In this one-day workshop we provide a framework for assessing complaints to determine whether they meet the definition of workplace violence and teach participants how to spring into action to both maintain the safety of employees and conduct a meaningful investigation.
Specific content covered will include the following:
- The legal definition of workplace violence
- Overview of the employer’s duties to prevent workplace violence
- Creating a “First Response” strategy to mitigate risks of a workplace violence complaint
- Interviewing and articulating findings in a workplace violence investigation
Internal investigators will have the opportunity to build on their investigation experience and gain enhanced expertise in dealing with workplace violence.
